Beaverton bond update: Beaverton High topping out, multiple summer projects and Whitford restroom upgrades

Aaron Boyle, administrator for facilities development, briefed the board on bond-program construction milestones and upcoming projects on March 11.

Boyle said the Beaverton High School replacement project had a recent "topping out" ceremony after structural steel placement and remains on budget; he said the new building is scheduled to open in fall 2026, with demolition and final site work planned for fall 2027. Raleigh Hills replacement is also under construction with an intended fall 2026 opening. Boyle described the Stoller gym addition as a project that replaces portables and adds a new gym and classrooms.

Boyle listed summer and near-term projects: classroom additions at Oak Hills to eliminate portables, a secure vestibule at Cooper Mountain, seismic and reroof work at Meadow Park, a major HVAC replacement at Aloha High School (a multi-year effort), and district athletic and stage upgrades. He said the bond program has expanded internship placements for students and apprentices and reported construction statistics on Beaverton High (about 150,000 craft hours to date; 22% apprenticeship participation).

Regarding restrooms, Boyle said Whitford and Sunset schools will receive all-gender restroom upgrades this summer as part of modernization work. He also noted that the Beaver Acres cafeteria addition is in the program pipeline with design/permitting work ahead of construction scheduled for 2026.

Board members thanked the facilities team for on-time and on-budget delivery and asked for continued community updates.
