Beaverton SD 48J negotiators and representatives of the OSEA chapter reached a tentative agreement on Article 7, covering labor-management meetings, and exchanged signed copies of several articles that the parties said required only inclusive language or minor edits.
Negotiators said the parties accepted the union's proposed wording changes to Article 7. "We are accepting the language that you brought forward. So, I believe we have our first TA," one district representative said during the session. Both sides arranged to sign clean copies of the agreed language in real time.
The tentative agreement came during a wider bargaining meeting in which both sides reviewed proposed edits across multiple contract articles. Team members said the signed items were mainly changes to pronouns and title updates rather than substantive policy shifts. District staff confirmed they would provide two signed copies for the parties to keep.
The parties also identified several other articles they described as language-only or non-substantive (including items listed by number during the meeting) and said they would print and sign those copies during the session.
Negotiators scheduled follow-up work on items that remain open and said they would reconvene for additional bargaining on April 2. They also agreed by mutual consent to cancel the March 17 meeting because of scheduling conflicts.
The session continued with review of other articles that remain under negotiation, including staffing and payroll provisions, grievance procedures, and tuition-reimbursement language.
