Summary
Student representative Kayla Stewart said University City High School's baseball team has no home diamond for the spring season, meaning all games will be away; both boys' and girls' track teams will practice at Maplewood Richmond Heights High School. The meeting also included announcements about school events and theater performances.
Kayla Stewart, the student representative, told the University City Board of Education that the high school's baseball program will not have a usable home diamond for the upcoming spring season and that all baseball games will be played on the road.
"The baseball team currently does not have a baseball diamond available for practices or home games this spring," Stewart said. She added that as a result "all baseball games will be played as away games."
Stewart also reported that both the boys and girls track teams will hold their spring-season practices at Maplewood Richmond Heights High School for the duration of the season.
School programming announcements included dates and activities for middle- and high-school transitions: Stewart said eighth-grade parents' night at University City High School was listed in the meeting as happening on "January 29 and January 3 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m." (dates listed as stated in the meeting record). Counselors will meet one-on-one with rising ninth graders to complete course requests; after that process counselors will begin working with students in grades 9 through 11. Stewart also said juniors will have the opportunity to participate in an ACT boot camp to prepare for the assessment day when the ACT will be administered at the school.
U City Theater will present the play Dreamgirls in the UCHS Auditorium, with performances noted for Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m.; the meeting record said board members would receive a code for one free guest ticket each.
No board motion or vote was recorded on the athletics or activity updates during the meeting; the items were presented as informational updates from the student representative.
