Council reappoints Doug Keeler as Springfield representative to MWMC through 2028

Doug Keeler was reappointed as Springfield’s representative to the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission (MWMC) by the City Council at the work session. Councilor Michelle moved to appoint Keeler; the motion was seconded and passed 5–0 with Councilor Stout excused. The motion read: "I move to appoint Doug Keeler to the MWMC for the term ending 01/31/2028."
Keeler, who told the council he first became Springfield’s representative in 1997, was praised by Mayor Van Gordon and staff for his long service and steady leadership. Matt Stouder, the city’s environmental services director and NWMC (executive officer) liaison, called Keeler “a steady leader in our intergovernmental partnership” and said Keeler consistently represents Springfield’s interests on the commission.
Keeler briefly recalled his start on the commission and said the work has been rewarding despite being unpaid. The council presented Keeler with a small recognition and voted to confirm the appointment.
Vote: Yes — Councilors Weber, Moe, Rodley, Blackwell, Doyle; Stout — absent. Outcome: approved.
