Board hears long‑term facilities update; administration seeks approval later for UTVs and non‑CDL dump truck

Upcoming work planned for the summer includes elementary restroom renovations and finishing turf work at Skyline, Parkview and SMS; Loftus classroom completion and Smith Cotton High School parking improvements were also on the list.
On equipment, Pyle presented price ranges from local dealers for utility task vehicles (UTVs) that could be used for snow removal and other maintenance tasks. Price quotes from local dealers ranged between $25,608 and $28,122 per UTV. He also described seeking a dump truck under 26,000 pounds that would not require a commercial driver’s license (CDL), likening it to a heavy pickup frame (Ford F-550 class) with a dump bed.
“...these two would be items that would last 15 to 20 years if well taken care of and be something that we should consider,” Pyle said when describing the UTVs’ longevity and utility.
Why it matters: the equipment is positioned as multi‑use capital—useful for snow removal as well as grounds and custodial work—and could improve operational efficiency in maintenance and athletics support. Pyle said the UTVs would be used routinely beyond storms.
Next steps: the board asked administration to return with firm quotes and a recommendation for action at a future meeting. Pyle will bring finalized bids and additional logistics (trailer/attachments and procurement timeline) to the board for a decision.
