Junior high robotics and elementary FIRST LEGO teams recognized at board meeting

An adult coach outlined the junior high’s FTC team (Team Screech), an eighth‑grade squad that rose from a 13th ranking to win their league tournament out of 22 teams and qualified for State in Rolla. “We held that first spot at our Camdenton League Tournament with 22 other teams, and ended up winning the entire tournament,” the coach said.
Shelley Heritage Paxson introduced two FIRST LEGO teams, Shriek and Squeak, comprised of sixth‑ and seventh‑grade students. Team Squeak reported two awards in the qualifying tournament, including second place for robot design and a Pufferfish Precision Award. Team members described innovation projects focused on ocean pollution and prototypes they 3D‑printed.
Why it matters: student robotics participation was highlighted as an example of district extracurricular growth and hands‑on STEM learning. Board members thanked students and coaches and noted the upcoming robotics events hosted at the high school.
