Board approves ROCORI FFA trip to state convention in Saint Paul

The ROCORI School Board approved an FFA request to send roughly 30–35 students and five chaperones to the Minnesota FFA state convention in Saint Paul, slated in the district’s presentation for April 27–29. The board’s motion to approve carried on a voice vote.
Hannah Berger, a high school teacher and FFA advisor, told trustees the delegation would include teams and individuals in a range of career-development events and contests, and that the group expected to send a dairy team, fish and wildlife, poultry, companion animals, nursery/landscape, milk quality and products, and other possible teams. Berger said the group was “hoping to take about 33 students” and that roughly five chaperones would attend.
Berger described the schedule as two nights and three days and said many students had already qualified for state-level competition. She also noted that some teams were leaving early to travel for additional contests and practices: “That's when the bus is leaving to go to NDSU tomorrow morning, to compete in theory,” she said in describing recent travel for competitions.
The board moved and seconded the request (motion by Robin; second by Lynn), and members approved it by voice vote. Trustees congratulated the students and advisers for competitive success and encouraged community support for an upcoming fundraiser.
Ending: The board approved the trip and trustees encouraged attendance at an FFA alumni fundraiser on April 5.
