Office of Emergency Management schedules regional continuity and EOC trainings

Office of Emergency Management staff announced countywide continuity of operations and Emergency Operations Center training for local agencies and a regional access and functional needs planning effort with state partners.
Bonnie Vanhouse of the Office of Emergency Management told the Allegany County Legislature that the office will host continuity‑of‑operations (COOP) planning training and an incident command/Emergency Operations Center training for county and regional partners.
Vanhouse said the COOP workshop will be held “at the Crossroads on the 22nd and April 23” and that the incident command/EOC training will be scheduled in May; she said invites will be extended to law enforcement, fire, EMS, county department heads and public health, and that announcements will be posted on the county Facebook page and website.
Vanhouse also said the county is working with the New York State Office of Emergency Management and Western New York emergency managers on a regional access and functional needs plan to better identify where people with special needs are located and what assistance they may require during an emergency.
Bill Day, the county’s fire coordinator, briefly noted training activity and said a resource manual requested by Legislator Demick should be updated by May and distributed to board members.
