Waukesha Education Foundation update; district accepts gifts and highlights mental-health partner

The Waukesha Education Foundation (WEF) reported to the Waukesha School District board on Feb. 13 that its scholarship portal is open through March 20 and that the WEF annual grant application will be open Feb. 3 through April 7; the foundation had not announced the 2025 grant total at the time of the report. WEF also provided dates for its Evening for Education fundraiser (March 18, 2025) and other 2025 events.
In the consent agenda, the board accepted four gifts: $1,000 to Butler Middle School from Gregory and Linda Burns for flexible seating; $1,000 to Waukesha West to support Project Graduation; $5,000, $2,000 and $3,000 gifts to Waukesha North from John Arons (split among purposes listed as Black Student Union and football program); and a signed Broadway poster valued at $500–$1,000 from Chuck and Linda Malone for display at Waukesha North. The gifts were approved as part of the consent agenda, which passed 9-0.
Separately, the Student Services Committee reported on Carouselis, a mental-health care coordination service offered to students, staff and families at no charge through district partnership. Director of Student Services Mark Lederer and South High School social worker Mary Green reported that Carouselis helps match individuals to providers, confirm wait times and follow up on transitions; the service has saved an estimated 54.5 district staff hours so far this school year, according to the committee report. Board members praised the service and urged more community awareness of the offering.
The consent agenda and gifts were approved by roll call 9-0; WEF and district leaders encouraged staff and families to see their websites for scholarship and event details.
