Board moves consultant rules from district organization into new Policy 8-125

The board approved Policy 8-125 on Feb. 13, moving optional language about educational consultants out of Policy 1-100 (District Organization) and into a standalone policy providing clearer direction on the scope of authority and process for engaging consultants who support district programming.
Board member David Wadd explained the change during the Policy and Government Relations Committee report: the language was reallocated to provide explicit direction from the board to administration about how and when the district engages a variety of educational consultants. The motion to approve Policy 8-125 was seconded by Diane Voigt and passed on a roll call vote of 9-0.
Board members noted the reorganization is intended to improve clarity about consultant authority and process; the committee and administration said the separate policy will help administrators plan procurements and contracts consistent with board expectations.
