Board approves AP Psychology resource; AI guidance on academic honesty to be revised

The Waukesha School District Board of Education approved a new AP Psychology resource for district high schools on Feb. 13; the Teaching and Learning Committee had recommended the text after teachers and department staff reviewed changes to the College Board's AP Psychology course and exam. The board vote to adopt the resource for an eight-year period passed 9-0.
Teaching and Learning Committee Chair Betty Koenig explained the AP Psychology update was driven by major changes the College Board made to the course and exam. Koenig said the district team of AP teachers evaluated the text’s fit for both yearlong AP courses and semester psychology electives and recommended districtwide adoption to give students a common experience.
The committee also opened discussion on revisions to Policy 5505 Academic Honesty to incorporate guidance on artificial intelligence technologies. The administrative team, with Chief Information Officer Mr. Schloeman, presented suggested approaches; the policy will be revised and returned for future discussion and possible approval. Koenig said administrators will make edits and bring the item back to a future meeting.
The motion to approve the AP Psychology resource was moved by Betty Koenig and seconded by Anthony Zenobia; the roll call vote was 9-0 in favor.
