Senate Appropriations Committee approves three bills; two pass 4-3

The Senate Appropriations Committee met and approved three bills during a short session, the committee chair announced. Senate Bill 31 passed unanimously; Senate Bill 144 and Senate Bill 173 each passed by 4-3 votes.
The committee convened with several senators moving the bills without amendments. Senator Bridges moved Senate Bill 31 and said the sponsor expects to offer one amendment on second reading. After a roll call the chair declared SB 31 passed unanimously.
Senate Bill 144 was moved without amendment and passed by a 4-3 vote. Senators Gonzales, Kocher, the vice chair and the chair voted yes; Kirkmeyer, Liston and Pelton recorded no votes. The committee clerk polled members for the record.
Senate Bill 173 was also moved without amendment and passed 4-3 on a roll call with the same pattern of yes and no votes recorded by the clerk. Senator Weissman was present for the item.
There was no extended debate on the three measures during the recorded meeting and no committee amendments were adopted on the floor at the time of the votes. The chair adjourned the committee after the roll calls.
