Kent announces State of the City, parks programs, conservation events and diaper drive

Mayor Dana Ralph said the 2025 State of the City address will be Thursday, March 20, at Kent‑Meridian High School Performing Arts Center; doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program starts at 7 p.m.
Ralph thanked the parks department for the recent Kent Kids Art Day, a full‑day event for pre‑K through fourth grade students that featured 15 hands‑on projects, food and live entertainment.
She said the city’s spring and summer parks and recreation guide is available at mykentparks.com and that registrations are open for classes ranging from infant programs through senior and adaptive recreation.
Park shelter rentals are open for the season, Ralph said, with reservations available at mykentparks.com/rentals. She also highlighted Green Kent volunteer conservation events and provided a web link for signups at mykentparks.com/greenkent.
The mayor announced March of Diapers, a regional diaper donation campaign. Donations of diapers of any size can be dropped off at Kent City Hall during business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., through March 31.
Ralph described a new neighborhood outreach program called Sidewalk Sessions where residents can meet public works staff and the mayor to discuss traffic calming, sidewalk completion and storm drainage; signups are available at kentwa.gov/sidewalksessions.
No formal city decisions were taken in the weekly update; the items are announcements and program information for residents.
