The Peabody City Council on March 13 recorded several formal outcomes: adoption of a restricted-parking ordinance, adoption of an ordinance amending the mayor’s salary, approval of a special permit for an electronic message sign at 151 Newbury Street, and referral of a health-inspection report for the Center School annex to the joint city council–school committee.
Restricted-parking ordinance: The council voted to adopt an ordinance amending section 19-93 (restricted parking) as advertised. The roll-call vote was recorded as 10-0 in favor.
Mayor salary ordinance: The council voted to adopt an ordinance amending section 2.2-13 (salary of the mayor) as presented. The roll-call vote was recorded as 10-0 in favor.
Special permit (sign): The council approved the NH Signs application to install a 10-by-16 single-sided electronic message board at 151 Newbury Street (Golden Banana). See separate article for full hearing details. The council’s roll-call vote on that permit was recorded as 10-0.
Center School annex inspection referral: The council received the health-inspection report for the Center School annex (integrated preschool) and amended the motion to refer the report to the joint city council–school committee for further review. The council also noted a community meeting scheduled for March 19 at Higgins Middle School’s auditorium; PVD TV will televise that meeting.
Other procedural items: The council received and referred several communications (municipal safety items, shelter safety audit, hotel emergency-response totals) to relevant committees by voice vote; those were recorded as received and referred during the meeting.
