Council announces hire of city engineer Peter Lane

Sedro-Woolley staff announced they have extended an offer and hired civil engineer Peter Lane as the city engineer; he will start Monday and be introduced to council in April.
City Administrator Bill Bullock told the Sedro-Woolley City Council on March 12 that the city has hired a new city engineer, Peter Lane, following a protracted search.
Bullock said Lane holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (2003), a master’s degree with strengths in structural and geotechnical engineering, and a professional engineering license since about 2008. Bullock said Lane’s background includes service as a public works officer in the U.S. Navy — a role the city equated to a public works director who manages roads, sewers and other base infrastructure — and more recent work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service in Bellingham and U.S. Forest Service projects designing roads and culverts. Bullock described roughly 24 years of experience.
Bullock said Lane’s start date is Monday and that the city will formally introduce him to the council at the first April meeting.
