Andrew Giese, the Indian Creek golf professional, said past AJGA events had international fields and partnered with local businesses to promote the host area.
Organizers said the AJGA Foundation receives tournament revenue and distributes scholarships and assistance; the host course is reimbursed for basic costs but is not operating the event as a profit center. Mathison said sponsorship options (for example, $250 hole sponsorships) help raise funds that can be distributed to local youth programs or the AJGA Foundation.
Board members and the county’s executive director for economic development described county marketing support — including a potential banner on the county website and a “do‑stay‑eat” map showing local lodging and dining options — and estimated the event could produce a week or more of visitors in mid‑June, including players, families and AJGA staff.
The board voted to approve a gold‑level county sponsorship at $2,500; supervisors indicated the sponsorship would support local youth outreach tied to the event.
