Committee staff said the regulation had generated questions about the continuing education statute and whether “physical attendance” requires in-person presence; staff reported a board decision that interpreted physical attendance to include virtual courses, but the regulation presented to the committee retained an in-person physical attendance requirement. The committee chair expressed agreement with LLR that the statutory phrase "in person" should mean physically present. The committee adopted the regulation by voice vote.
The regulation repeals existing sections on training for crematory operators and certified crematory operators and preceptors and updates website and ethics requirements for handling the deceased. The committee recorded the approval by voice vote; no roll-call tally appears in the transcript.
