Cleveland County Elementary Honors Chorus performs at Burns High School Auditorium

The Cleveland County Elementary Honors Chorus performed at Burns High School Auditorium as part of the 2025 Cleveland County Elementary Honors Chorus concert, organizers said.
The event, coordinated by Angie Costner, brought together students and music teachers from across Cleveland County Schools. Costner thanked parents and guardians for their support and said the performance would be videoed and a link shared later by students' music teachers. ‘‘Thank you for showing your support to the Cleveland County Schools music program,’’ Costner said.
The concert showcased students selected from districts and elementary schools across the county. Organizers asked parents to come to the edge of the stage when students were dismissed so children could locate their guardians safely. Attendees were also asked to silence phones and avoid flash photography during the performance.
Organizers and staff recognized Burns High School for providing the auditorium and named Burns High School orchestra director Billy Norton and Principal Jennifer Aberley among those who helped make the event possible. Dr. Steven Fisher, identified in remarks as superintendent, and other district staff were also acknowledged.
Music teachers who rehearsed and brought students to the honors chorus were identified by organizers as Keith Eagle (Benfware Elementary School), Brandy Barker (Westminster Inn Elementary School), Maria Lutbush (Keizer and Union elementary schools), Charlotte Queen (East and Washington elementary schools), Ricky Austin Jr. (Jefferson Elementary School), Casey Beth (Grover and West Elementary Schools), Tracy Allen (North Elementary School), Whitney Pia (Elizabeth Elementary School), Mary Norton and Doreen Wagcaster (Springmore Elementary School), Bonnie Paulman (Township 3 Elementary School), Catherine Hartman (Township 3 substitute), and Mike Sisk (accompanist).
Organizers read long lists of students selected for the honors chorus. Named students included, among many others, Julia Baker, Nora Bradley, Kenzie Gibbs, Lily Hendrick, Sydney Melton, Navani McDaniel, Eva Echols, Rebecca Welsh, Serenity Garrett, Brantley Wall, Madison Smith, Mikayla Stevens, Zoe Diggs, Moira Mahoney, Lydia Patrick, Madeline Morissette, Leah Reid, Elena Phillips, Macy Sisk, Emma West and Madison Woods. Parents, guardians and family members were publicly thanked for ensuring students could attend rehearsals and learn the music.
The program closed with the group performing the national anthem and organizers reminding families that the performance would be available online through a link distributed by teachers.
