Cleveland County Elementary Honors Chorus performs at Burns High School

CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. — The Cleveland County Elementary Honors Chorus performed at Burns High School Auditorium in February 2025, bringing together elementary students from several district schools for a program recorded for families, organizers said.
Angie Koster, one of the event coordinators, said the program would feature “beautiful, angelic voices,” and thanked families and district staff for their support. Dr. Steven Fisher, superintendent of Cleveland County Schools, and Jennifer Aberle, principal of Burns High School, were listed among those in attendance.
The concert assembled students and music teachers from multiple district elementary schools. Organizers asked parents to hold applause until all names were read and instructed that, after the concert, at least one parent should come to the end of the stage for each child to ensure a safe dismissal. Attendees were also asked to silence phones and avoid flash photography so as not to distract the performers. The program was being videotaped; coordinators said each child’s music teacher will share a link so families can view the performance.
Several classroom music teachers and school staff were recognized during the program, including Keith Eagle (Beth Ware Elementary School), Brandy Barker (Bolin Springs Elementary School), Maria Loveless (Kaeser and Union Elementary schools), Ashley Smith (James Love Elementary School), Casey Vest (Grover and West Elementary Schools), Tracy Aderholt (North Elementary School), Mary Norton and Doreen Waycaster (Springmore Elementary School), Bonnie Holman (Township 3 Elementary School, on maternity leave) and Catherine Hartman (Township 3 substitute). Mike Sisk accompanied the chorus, and Chad Terry served as videographer and photographer.
Casey Vest led the roll call of students selected for the North Carolina Elementary Honors Chorus in November; organizers asked parents to wait to applaud until all names were called so every student could be heard. After the final selections and introductory remarks, the chorus stood to sing the national anthem and proceeded with the concert.
Organizers closed by thanking families and staff for attending and reminded parents again about the post-concert dismissal procedure and the forthcoming recording link.
