The Arlington fire chief reported the town’s February public safety activity at the March 4, 2025 meeting, and board members heard a set of municipal announcements including Chamber events and committee appointments.
According to the chief’s report, the department responded to 91 incidents in February: 54 were EMS responses and 37 were fire responses. The department provided mutual aid to neighboring jurisdictions 16 times and received mutual aid once. Staff cited 22 calls on South Interstate 40 and 9 calls on Interstate 40; the transcript also referenced routine inspections, two smoke projects and multiple training sessions. The chief said the department completed a transition to ESO reporting software and expected it to generate reports in March.
Officials and chamber representatives announced community events. The Arlington Chamber’s “Check the Luncheon” will feature Elizabeth Eckley on March 19; the chamber also reported hiring a third staff member and said the “Music on the Square” series begins in May. Board members noted the financial advisory committee meets the last Monday of the month and encouraged attendance by stakeholders.
The board also announced committee appointments: Roy (last name not specified in transcript) will serve on the Design Review Committee (DRC); Gary Whittam was named to the Planning Commission; and Robert McMahon was appointed to both the Industrial Development Board (IDB) and the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA). The treasurer’s report was placed on file and the board approved bills for payment by motion of Mr. Brooks, seconded by Mr. Harmon; the transcript records the vote by voice and no objections were recorded.
