The Green Bay Landmarks Commission approved a certificate of appropriateness to allow the installation of new skylights at 139 North Broadway, home to Gather On Broadway, at a March 13 special meeting.
Staff told commissioners the building is classified as noncontributing within the historic district, the architectural specifications for the skylights were included in the meeting packet and the skylights will not be visible from the public right of way. The staff member also said the skylights had already been purchased and staff recommended approval.
"I think it's compelling that, it's not viewable from the street. And for that reason, I'll make a motion to approve," Commissioner said before moving approval. The commission voted in favor; Chair, Landmarks Commission, declared, "Motion carries. Enjoy your skylights. But it's pretty obvious."
The approval covers the design review for installation of the purchased units; the commission did not place additional conditions or request further study. The meeting also approved the agenda and adjourned. The commission's next meeting is scheduled for March 19, 2025.
Staff and commissioners discussed only the visibility and contributing status; there was no extended public hearing or additional materials introduced at the meeting.
