Board approves routine minutes and financial report, passes two food‑service ordinances

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — At its March 11 meeting the Middletown Board of Health and Environment completed routine business and approved two ordinances on second reading.

The board voted to excuse two absent members, approved the minutes of the February meeting and voted to receive and file the February financial report. The board recorded votes by roll call and motions were carried.

On new business the board held the second reading and approved MBHE Ordinance No. 2025‑01, described in the meeting record as “an ordinance revising code section 3717.49(c)(1) to suspend a license issued to a food service operation.” The board also held second reading and approved MBHE Ordinance No. 2025‑02, described as “an ordinance authorizing the health commissioner, any registered environmental health specialist, or an environmental health specialist in training employed by the board of health to take action that may be taken by the board as license or pursuant to Ohio Revised Code section 3717.29(c)(1) in a retail food establishment or Ohio Revised Code section 3717.49(b)(1) in a food service operation.”

Both ordinances were read by title only, moved and seconded, and approved by roll call vote. The meeting minutes record the motions as passing; the clerk called the roll for each measure and recorded affirmative votes from members present.

No amendments to either ordinance were recorded during the meeting. The board scheduled follow‑up business and will place the contracts and resolutions related to program grants on the next agenda when those items are ready for formal review.
