The Erie County Metropolitan Planning Organization approved PennDOT/agency asset‑management targets that include transit performance measures for the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA).
A staff presenter reviewed the targets and performance metrics used in PennDOT's group asset‑management plan and explained why the targets are revisited annually. "The percentage of revenue vehicles that have met or exceeded their useful life benchmark, ours was the goal was 28. Our performance was 48," the presenter said, describing EMTA's current fleet condition.
MPO members were told EMTA has placed orders to improve the fleet: the presenter said, "we do have, 8 buses on order, and we have received 5 paratransit buses out of the 7 that are supposed to be coming in." The targets are intended to help maintain transit assets in a state of good repair and to be consistent with statewide objectives for asset management.
After the presentation, an MPO member moved to approve the targets and another member seconded. The motion passed on a voice vote.
MPO staff will transmit the locally approved targets to PennDOT as part of the annual asset‑management reporting process.
