Borough announces $525,780 multimodal grant for Church–Myra intersection; DCNR and county aid applications planned

The borough’s engineering staff told council that Yeadon received a $525,780 DCD multimodal grant to fund intersection improvements at Church and Myra, a fully funded award that requires no local match.
Engineer Megan Tadara said the project will be similar to current Church–Bailey work and will include ramps, signal improvements, crosswalks and overall intersection rehabilitation. She also said a separate PennDOT multimodal application for the same scope remains pending and could add further funding.
Tadara asked council to approve a county-aid resolution at the next public meeting; she also requested a resolution next week to proceed with a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) application due April 2. The DCNR application would repurpose elements of a prior LSA application for a “phase 2” of community-park improvements including field restoration, rubberized play-surface repairs, a second parking-lot expansion and stormwater features.
Council did not vote on these items at the March 13 meeting; staff said the county-aid resolution must be adopted in a public meeting to allow the borough to receive annual county aid funds, and the DCNR application requires council authorization to proceed.
Why it matters: The multimodal grant funds pedestrian, ADA and signal upgrades at a local intersection; the DCNR application targets park amenities and stormwater upgrades that affect recreational space and local drainage.
What’s next: Council will be asked to pass a county-aid resolution and a DCNR application resolution at the next public meeting; staff will report PennDOT’s decision on the pending application when available.
