The Quabbin Regional School District School Committee recorded several formal votes during its March 13 meeting. The committee took the following recorded actions:
• FY‑26 revised budget figure (motion moved in the public hearing portion): Approved unanimously to forward the revised FY‑26 operating budget of $41,080,092 to the public hearing (see separate full article for background). The committee voted on a motion to approve the figure and forward it for public hearing; all present members voted yes on roll call.
• Mass School Building Authority (MSBA) statement of interest — Hardwick Elementary School: The committee voted to authorize the superintendent to submit an MSBA Statement of Interest dated 03/14/2025 for Hardwick Elementary School at 76 Schoolhouse Drive (Gilbertville). The SOI listed priority categories including roof replacement (shingle warranties expired; plywood buckling; cracked shingles and failing vents). The motion included the standard acknowledgement that submission of an SOI does not guarantee MSBA acceptance or funding. Roll call: motion passed (unanimous yes of those present).
• Acceptance of donation — Hardwick Elementary Nature’s Classroom: The committee approved acceptance of an $8,000 donation from the Berry Savings Charitable Foundation (presented to the PTO) to support Hardwick Elementary student participation in Nature’s Classroom. The donation was included on the consent agenda and passed on roll call.
• Student travel — DECA international competition: The committee approved a request for two students and one chaperone to attend the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida, April 26–30, 2025. Motion passed on roll call.
Procedural notes: the MSBA SOI motion included standard language that an SOI is only an expression of interest and does not commit the district to file an application or guarantee MSBA grant awards. The DECA trip and donation approvals were routine consent or new business votes; the committee recorded roll calls for each and no member cast a recorded no or abstention on these items.
The administration said it would proceed with the SOI submission and would follow up with committees and member towns if the district moves toward an MSBA application or project design process. The DECA trip will proceed with district trip approvals in place; the PTO donation will be accepted and recorded in district financial records.
