Board members and the superintendent reviewed proposed communications practices at the March 13 meeting to clarify how board members receive information, how one-on-one meetings should be used and when topics should be elevated to work sessions.
The superintendent will continue to circulate a weekly email update and the executive assistant will continue to send calendar and event notices. One-on-one meetings between individual directors and the superintendent will remain a regular channel for questions and information; the superintendent said she will use her discretion to decide whether an item raised to her in a one-on-one should be shared via an all-board follow-up email or placed on a work-session agenda when the topic requires broader discussion.
Directors asked staff to add a field on one-on-one agendas to flag potential workshop topics; the superintendent agreed. Board members also agreed that general questions that affect all board members should be shared with the full board to preserve transparency. No policy changes were made; the discussion clarified operating practice and officers agreed to coordinate the timing and format of follow-ups.
