The Senate Labor & Commerce Committee heard testimony from Henry Farber, nominee for reappointment to the Public Employment Relations Commission. Farber described a nearly 50‑year career in labor relations, including work for the National Labor Relations Board and private practice in labor and employment law, and said he was appointed to the commission in December by Governor Inslee.
During his testimony Farber said he “has long believed in the strength and the importance of collective bargaining” and described the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, a professional organization that he said promotes civility across labor and employment practice. Senator Saldanha asked about the organization’s nomination process and continuing-education activities; Farber explained members must be nominated and supported across labor, management and employee sectors and said the college offers continuing education and networking.
Committee members thanked Farber for his service; the committee indicated it will take action on the nomination at a later executive session. Farber took the required oath under Senate Rule 69 before providing testimony.
