Senate adopts McBroom amendment and passes SB 23, SB 68, SB 87 and SB 88

On the final passage of Senate Bill 23, the secretary announced 30 aye votes, 6 no votes and 1 excused; the bill passed. On the final passage of Senate Bill 68, the secretary announced 31 aye votes, 5 no votes and 1 excused; the bill passed. Senate Bills 87 and 88 each passed with 36 aye votes, 0 no votes and 1 excused, as announced by the secretary.
The chamber also advanced Senate Bill 71 (committee substitute adopted in committee of the whole) and Senate Bill 83 to the order of third reading; committee reports for those bills were read on the floor but final passage was not recorded during this session. Several other bills were introduced and read for referral to committee, including bills to amend the Insurance Code of 1956, the Public Health Code, the Michigan Vehicle Code, the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, the Mental Health Code and the State School Aid Act of 1979.
Floor action concluded later in the day and the Senate adjourned to reconvene Thursday, March 13, at 10 a.m.
