Board authorizes $576,279 contract for sheriff to provide law‑enforcement services to Edgerton

The Johnson County Board of County Commissioners voted 5-0 Feb. 27 to authorize a 2025 agreement under which the county sheriff’s office will provide law‑enforcement services to the city of Edgerton for $576,279.
Brian Seidler, appearing for the sheriff’s office, said staff review past salary costs and patrol staffing to price the contract. “The way we go about doing the pricing for these contracts is to look at the actual salary for the staff in the patrol division,” Seidler said, noting last year’s estimates were slightly conservative and actual costs came in a little lower.
Commissioner Allenbrand asked whether the agreements are full cost recovery and about historical accuracy of cost projections; Seidler said last year’s figures were roughly $2,500 favorable to the county. Commissioner Myers noted overtime and cost controls appeared reasonable. Commissioner Allenbrand moved the authorization; Commissioner Myers seconded. The clerk recorded five ayes and the motion passed.
County staff said the sheriff’s office is meeting regularly with partner cities to ensure fair allocation of patrol resources and to discuss service levels and costs. The agreement authorizes the sheriff to provide the listed services for the stated amount and will take effect for calendar year 2025.
