Finance committee advances $26,462 opioid recovery grant request to executive committee

The Lee County Finance Committee on March 13 voted to forward to the executive committee a recommendation to spend opioid settlement funds on a proposed Partnership for a Healthy Lee County (PHLC) program.
Charlie (county staff) said the county has received opioid settlement proceeds and that roughly $160,800 has been deposited to date. He summarized two proposals under consideration: continued support for Sinnissippi Behavioral Healthto develop a recovery home, which would be a longer-term commitment, and a one-time PHLC request of $26,462 for instructor training, supplies, marketing, and two slots for anti-stigma training in April.
"This is a one-time ask," Charlie said, describing PHLC's training and outreach plan and noting that the committee's focus group had concluded the program was ready to proceed. Charlie said judges and local stakeholders had been involved in planning and that the county's opioid funds remain available for such initiatives.
The finance committee voted to move the PHLC expenditure recommendation to the executive committee for placement on a full-board agenda. The motion was made by Tom Kitson and seconded by Nancy Naylor; members signified approval by saying "aye," and the motion carried.
