County auditors give Umatilla County unmodified opinion; commissioners accept report

Cameron Anderson, a shareholder at Anderson, Boyle & Ramos, told the board the audit for the year ended June 30, 2024, resulted in an unmodified opinion and that the financial statements are materially correct on the modified cash basis of accounting. Anderson said the firm performed third‑party confirmations, transaction sampling and federal single‑audit testing of three major federal programs and found no reportable findings or management letter comments.
The audit presentation noted one minor difficulty during the engagement: county staff were transitioning to new financial software, producing information in different formats that required additional reconciliation. Anderson said the team worked with county staff to accommodate those format differences and complete the audit.
Commissioner John Schafer thanked the auditors and county staff for the volume of work. Commissioner Dan Dorn also echoed appreciation for county staff and said he would review the 68‑page report in more detail.
Commissioner John Schafer moved to accept the audit as presented; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The accepted audit will be filed with state and federal authorities as required and the auditors remain available to answer further questions from the board or public.
