District launches public counseling pages on each school site to help families plan for college and careers

Crystal Buckley and members of a volunteer website committee described their research process, which included surveying counselors and reviewing other districts' websites. Committee members said much information had previously been housed in Canvas, the district's learning platform, which is not publicly accessible to parents; the new pages surface foundational information and direct families to campus counselors for individualized guidance.
Committee members introduced volunteers from several campuses who contributed content and said the pages are live under each school's Academics > Counseling navigation. The committee listed next steps: increase awareness, track which pages receive traction to refine content, and use district communication tools to notify families about key deadlines such as college applications and FAFSA. Presenters emphasized that the pages are a starting point and that families should still consult assigned counselors for case-specific advice.
The board did not take action; presenters asked for the board's information and said the pages will be maintained periodically by the committee and counseling directors.
