The Moraga Town Council proclaimed March 2025 as American Red Cross Month at its March 12 meeting and recognized local Red Cross volunteers and services that respond to home fires, install smoke alarms and provide training.
A Red Cross volunteer described the organization’s role in providing immediate needs at house fires—hotel, food, clothing—and connecting families to longer‑term recovery services. The proclamation text cited local Red Cross activities in Contra Costa County, including smoke alarm installations and training programs; staff read the proclamation aloud and presented a paper certificate to the visitor.
Councilmembers praised the Red Cross and several noted personal connections to blood donation or volunteer service. The proclamation was adopted by consensus and staff said the town would include the recognition in its newsletter.
