Board approves personnel, donations, enrollment and other routine items in unanimous votes

The Yuma Union High School District governing board voted unanimously on a series of routine and substantive items, including personnel contracts, donations, open enrollment capacity and the district's employee compensation packet.
Board members approved the consent agenda without pull requests and later accepted $32,227.53 in donations to schools and student programs, authorized the district's open-enrollment capacities for 2025'26, approved classified hourly rates for summer learning and approved the 2025'26 employee compensation packet. The board also approved a first amendment to an intergovernmental agreement and voted to enter executive session and to appoint the board president to negotiate with the superintendent.
The donations accepted included monetary and in-kind gifts for athletics, arts and student activities across district campuses; the board recorded a year-to-date donation total of $337,215.09. The board also approved summer hourly pay rates specifically for summer learning positions and the open-enrollment capacities listed in the board book.
On personnel compensation, the board adopted the 2025'26 employee compensation packet, including corrected contract start dates for 9-month and 10-month employees (July 25, 2025, and July 7, 2025, respectively). Assistant Superintendent Bobby Lambert told the board the packet included raises for employees: he described a 3% increase for certified and administrative support staff and a $1-per-hour raise and base increase for classified staff; he also referenced a 1.5% increase in another certified/support grouping during his remarks. Board members said the packet must be approved so contracts can be issued while final state budget action remains pending.
All recorded motions were announced as carrying unanimously in open session.
