Sesame Hill Library, Historical Society highlights auction, programs during public comment

Lorraine Chidester, representing the Sesame Hill Library and the Susquehanna County Historical Society, used the public‑comment portion of the March 12, 2025 Susquehanna County commissioners meeting to update the board and the public on library and historical‑society activities and fundraising.

Chidester said the Historical Society was running an online auction that closes March 17 and described several items available, including two old card‑catalog boxes, a unique birdhouse and an older‑style Farmall Series M tractor that is still in its box. She said the auction includes meal packages and opportunities tied to preseason sporting events, described a meet‑and‑greet with players and preseason game‑viewing opportunities, and invited people to view items online.

Chidester also told commissioners that planning is under way for the library’s annual blueberry festival and that branches have been active with community programming. She said the Forest City branch has partnered with outside organizations to host events such as an estate‑planning seminar and an adult “date‑night” painting program. The Historical Society will have a table at the county Ag Day and the library will share a table with master gardeners to explain local library services, Chidester said.

She thanked the commissioners for their support and encouraged the public to contact her or any board member with questions.
