Representatives from Hamilton Davis Mental Health introduced the council to the organization's Meridian location at 2419 Tenth Street and described services available to residents, including outpatient mental-health care, intensive outpatient services, intellectual and developmental disability services and medication-assisted treatment for opioid-use disorder.
Dr. Marie Abston, introduced as executive director, and Ezzy Florence, introduced as chief operating officer, told the council the Meridian clinic reopened services in December 2023 and began reoffering services about a month before the meeting. Dr. Abston described opioid-use disorder as "a treatable chronic disease" and said Hamilton Davis Treatment Services is available to Meridian residents and will participate in community outreach events.
Council members welcomed the clinic and said they would help promote the new services through social media and local business networks. The presenters said they are registered with the East Mississippi business development network to receive alerts and outreach opportunities.
