The Cloverdale City Council issued a proclamation declaring March 2025 as American Red Cross Month and recognized local Red Cross volunteers who described planned community activities, including efforts to host a blood drive in Cloverdale and the organization’s free smoke alarm installation program.
Council member Lasky introduced the proclamation and Mayor Todd Lands read the signed proclamation on March 12. Two Red Cross volunteers, identified in the meeting as Denny (a disaster-actions volunteer) and Andy, described their local activities: smoke-alarm installations in mobile-home parks and residential neighborhoods and services for disaster-affected households and military families.
Denny said the Red Cross provides immediate support to displaced residents after fires and can help with short-term financial needs. “If they need help with money, Red Cross does help them with some money to get them back on their feet,” he said. Andy and Denny told the council they have a mobile Red Cross vehicle and could run a blood drive locally if at least about 50 volunteers sign up; council members offered to help with outreach through the Chamber and local clubs.
Councilors thanked the volunteers and asked staff to coordinate follow-up about scheduling a local blood drive. The proclamation requires no council vote beyond the ceremonial reading and recognition during the meeting.
