Supervisor Kozmicki introduced the proclamation and invited Janine Riddle, founder and CEO of the local nonprofit B Proximity, to receive the document and address the board. The proclamation cites Black History Month’s origins with scholar Carter G. Woodson and highlights the 2025 national theme focused on Black Americans and labor. Riddle thanked the board and described B Proximity’s mission to build community through education, conversation and celebration of Black culture in San Benito County.
The board approved the proclamation by roll call vote, 5–0.
