San Benito County Planning Commission elects new chair, names vice chair and committee appointments

The San Benito County Planning Commission elected a new chair and vice chair and approved committee assignments at its Feb. 19 meeting.
Commissioners voted to elect a new chair after multiple nominations and a roll-call vote that resulted in a 4-1 tally in favor of the approved nominee. Commissioners then nominated and elected Bobby Thomason as vice chair; that vote was unanimous, 5-0.
The commission also confirmed representatives to standing and ad hoc committees. By unanimous votes, the commission authorized the continuation of Commissioner Richard Way and Commissioner Vincent Ringhaden on the countys Homeless Task Force to the extent that the task force continues to operate; the commission also continued Commissioner Robert Gibson and Commissioner Robert Scagliotti on the San Benito County Conservation Plan stakeholder group; and Commissioners Scagliotti and Vincent Ringhaden were retained for the SBCCP (stakeholder) committee. Commissioner Scagliotti was formally appointed to the Agricultural Element stakeholder planning group with a unanimous vote.
Several motions were seconded and approved by roll call. Commissioners discussed logistics and the nominations on the record before each roll-call vote.
The commission noted that these leadership changes and committee appointments are procedural steps used to manage the calendar years work program and make sure commission representation continues on longstanding county initiatives.
