- Dorton Park: Staff completed a punch list walk-through and confirmed a grand opening on March 25. Disc-golf signage has been ordered; playground equipment remains in transit and likely will not be installed before the grand opening. Tree plantings are scheduled for fall.
- Academy Gibson Aquatic Center and athletic fields: Construction for the aquatic center continues; engineering and buildings-and-grounds corrected some columns to accommodate a new entry. The pool remains on pace to open in May with the seasonal pool schedule. Final design approval for athletic fields (separate agenda item) carried a current estimate in the meeting record.
- Caldwell Park: Site grading and storm-pipe installation are underway; staff reported demo and clearing are complete and that the project is proceeding smoothly.
- Grama Park and other upcoming bids: Bids for Grama Park went out in February with a closing date the week after the meeting; staff expected to return to council in April with results. Academy Gibson athletic-field bids will follow the completion of other bid packages.
- Skate park, pump track, sculpture garden: Design is at about 90% for the skate park/pump track/sculpture garden; staff anticipates a final design submittal in the coming months and a separate update on budget numbers later in the summer or early fall.
- Bay Phillips Park: Soil testing produced poor results at a proposed aviary location; staff is evaluating alternate locations and materials and expects to return in April or May for final design approval.
- Additional projects: Staff continues internal design work on a Poplar Hunt Trailhead and Wilson Street improvements and said timelines will be updated as bids and funding are finalized.
Staff and council questions: Council asked whether the Dorton Park playground would be installed before the grand opening; staff said the playground is in transit and likely will be installed in April with a four-to-five day installation window once delivered.
Next steps: Staff will bring bid results for projects with open solicitations and return with final designs when soil testing and other technical issues are resolved. Monthly updates will continue.
