Board approves fund transfer to correct accounting for River Parkway roundabout design

The Board of Supervisors approved a budget transfer to reimburse the park‑impact fund and reassign design and environmental assessment costs for the River Parkway/San Benito Street project to Measure G, which is the project’s intended funding source.
Steve Loop, public works administrator, told the board the roundabout and pedestrian improvements near the high school had been tracked as a Measure G project in project reports but, because of how the accounting entry was created in the county's ERP system, the design withdrawals were charged to the park impact fund instead of Measure G.
"We discovered that this roadway and the roundabout that should've been coming from Measure G… had been coming from park impact funds," Loop said. The transfer reimburses the park fund and aligns the accounting with the project's original Measure G financing.
The project includes a roundabout near the high school, a sidewalk to connect to the school route and street lights. The board approved the transfer on a roll‑call vote.
