The Tooele City Planning Commission on Wednesday approved a conditional use permit to allow a private educational facility at 67 East 1280 North.
Staff presented the application (No. 2025021), saying the site is in the general commercial zoning district east of Apollo Burger and adjacent to businesses including United Slice, Dependable Oxygen and Allstate Insurance. Planner Mr. Page told commissioners the operator expects a weekday daytime parking need of about six stalls and occasional evening demand up to 20 stalls; staff estimated a likely maximum demand of 39 stalls while the site currently has 44 stalls.
The commission opened a public hearing but received no public comment. Applicant Zach Powell attended and declined to speak. Commissioner Proctor moved to approve the conditional use permit request for the private educational (bridal education) facility by Zach Powell representing Ellie Briggs and Son Ltd, application number 2025021, based on the findings and subject to the conditions in the staff report dated March 7, 2025. Commissioner Hamilton seconded. A roll-call vote recorded ayes from Commissioners Hammer, Proctor, Dunn, Hamilton, Jensen, Anderson and Sloan; the motion passed 7-0.
The approval allows the proposed educational use to proceed under the conditions listed in the staff report.
