Staff provided several administrative updates at the Historic Preservation Commission meeting, including a personnel change in commission support and the town manager’s announced retirement.
The updates matter because they alter who handles commission materials and the town’s executive leadership; staff also asked commissioners to submit any further comments on an ongoing OTR design‑guidelines effort to the commission clerk.
Steph (staff) introduced Allie (referred to in the meeting as “Ali”) as the new board and commission clerk, saying Allie has taken over several commissions’ administrative duties and will serve as a backup for this commission. The staff update also noted the OTR design‑guidelines sitewalk is informational at this stage; staff asked commissioners to send any additional comments by email to Kaye so planners can incorporate them into outreach and code updates.
Planning staff informed the commission that Lauren Gister, the town manager, has announced her retirement effective at the end of June. Staff said the Board of Trustees has begun a process to recruit a new town manager and have discussed potential recruiting firms; no final firm or timeline was specified. Jared said he expects the recruitment process to proceed over the coming months and that trustees will guide the steps for the new hire.
No formal action was taken on these updates. Staff asked commissioners to forward any comments on OTR guidelines to Kaye in advance of future HPC meetings and said staff will share minutes and summaries with P&Z as needed.
