District staff and the Alisal Teachers Association (ATA) highlighted the Great Alisal Teaching Conference (GATC) during the board meeting. Edie Porter, director of curriculum and instruction and co-chair of the professional development committee, and co-chair Clementina Pantoja described the Feb. 3 teacher-led professional development day and thanked district departments and unions for their support.
Porter said the event drew more than 375 certificated staff and represented the highest participation in GATC history. She credited year-long planning by the district professional development committee and collaboration among ATA, CSEA and central office staff, including maintenance, transportation, food services and IT. Porter also noted the committee's prior recognition with a Golden Bell Award in 2023 and said the committee distributed commemorative posters to attendees.
Porter and Pantoja acknowledged work by an in-house graphic designer who produced a conference trailer and thanked CSEA members and other district teams whose logistical support made the day possible.
Ending
Board members and staff congratulated the professional development committee and said they expect continued collaboration on future GATC events.
