Arnie, planning staff, told commissioners the panels would be mounted on either side of an existing multi-tenant sign near East Nelson Street and that each panel measures 78 inches by 15 inches with a vinyl overlay. Arnie said staff had reviewed the proposal against the entrance corridor signage guidelines and “staff does find that the proposed improvements meet the zoning criteria.”
Commission discussion focused on aesthetics and compatibility with neighboring storefronts. One commissioner said the wall sign’s orange background initially concerned them but added that, after comparing adjacent businesses, the color scheme appeared to fit. Another commissioner noted the artwork did not show a border on the previously approved wall sign but concluded it was “water under the bridge.” No public speakers came forward during the open comment period for the item.
A commissioner moved to approve application ECCOA 2025-04 for signage at 453 East Nelson Street; another commissioner seconded and the motion carried.
The application lists the property owner as Endo Endora Properties, LLC and the parcel as TM number 30-1-9. Commissioners noted that related earlier approvals for a wall sign and window signage are on file and available if needed for future reference.
The commission returned to other agenda items after recording the approval.
