Summary
The Haslet Parks and Recreation Board confirmed the April 12 Easter egg hunt will begin at 4 p.m., run by age group, allow a small number of vendors, and include eight $10 gift-card 'golden-ticket' prizes.
The Haslet Parks and Recreation Board on March 12 confirmed plans for its annual Easter egg hunt, scheduling the event for April 12 at 4 p.m. and approving operational details including vendor participation, prize purchases and event staffing.
Board members said the egg hunt will follow the format used last year, with children released by age group to reduce crowding and make the event run faster. Staff described the event as roughly an hour-long activity with pre- and post-event activity pushing the total onsite time to several hours.
The board voted to allow limited vendors at the event and set fees at $25 for a table and $50 for a food truck. Members discussed whether to waive fees for sponsors and settled on the nominal fee structure while noting sponsors still receive priority placement. Staff will publish a vendor form with fee guidance.
For prizes, the board approved purchasing eight $10 Sonic gift cards to be hidden as “golden tickets” in eggs and claimed at the DJ station; members said the gesture encourages families to linger briefly after the hunt. Volunteers from local churches and 4-H were noted as expected helpers for setup and crowd management.
Board members also discussed logistics such as parking limitations, volunteer staffing, and whether certain vendors (snow-cone trucks, food trucks) should be allowed given the short duration of the egg hunt. Staff said Kona Ice already holds a city vendor permit and could attend without extra permitting; other vendors will be asked to indicate interest, and staff will finalize the fee and permitting process.
