Wythe County supervisors approve campground renovation, water project bids, vehicle purchases and multiple budget transfers

Wythe County Board of Supervisors on March 11 approved a package of contracts, appropriations and transfers including a campground renovation award, water-project bids, an amendment to buy additional sheriff vehicles, several funding transfers and a school donation.

The actions were taken during the board’s regular meeting at which supervisors handled routine business, heard one public comment and conducted a closed session before authorizing an administrator to execute an option agreement for a parcel in Progress Park for joint industrial development.

Why it matters: the package moves multiple county projects toward implementation and directs county funds (including reserves and special funds) to capital projects, public safety equipment and school transportation. Some items were contingent on outside approvals, including U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development for the water work.
