Commission hears updates on additional surveyed properties and facade-grant outreach

Staff said 4026 West 141st Street (a mid-19th century Greek Revival farmhouse) previously was threatened with demolition but remains standing after a developer replat and an agreement that avoided demolition. Staff said multiple prospective buyers have contacted the commission and that staff has encouraged rehabs that remove non-original vinyl or aluminum siding and restore historic window profiles where possible. Staff said the property remains on the city survey and therefore would be subject to the demolition-delay process if a demolition permit were filed.
Staff also said the commission holds a pre-application public meeting before each facade-grant round and had hosted interested applicants earlier the same day. The commission noted May is a busy month because of facade-grant awards and staff availability, and staff suggested scheduling broader owner outreach in June.
