The superintendent or staff member (presenter) said the program identifies policy vs. handbook inconsistencies and that building‑level committees will include parents, students, faculty and community members to collect feedback. “We have building level committees this year. They're going to meet with parents, students, faculty, and we'll get building level suggestions as well,” staff said.
Trustees asked whether parents and students already serve on the committee; staff said invitations had not yet been sent but they will be included. One trustee recommended canvassing parents who have raised discipline concerns so they can participate in the review and better understand district processes and legal constraints.
Staff said they will consult with the board attorney about any substantive changes that implicate Mississippi law and will bring recommended edits back to the board. Trustees indicated they will use survey results and building‑level input before finalizing the handbook for the coming school year.
