District 58 names Dr. Gregory Harris as assistant superintendent for business; Todd Dreifal to retire in June

The Downers Grove GSD 58 board approved the appointment of Dr. Gregory (Greg) Harris as the district’s next assistant superintendent for business and chief school business official. The hire was included as part of the meeting’s consent agenda and approved by roll call.

Superintendent Dr. Kevin Russell told the board that Harris has more than 20 years of experience in education and school business administration and currently serves as assistant superintendent for finance and operations at Roselle School District 12. Russell said Harris resigned a recent board seat earlier this year to avoid any conflict of interest while pursuing the district job.

Dr. Gregory Harris, who spoke briefly after the board's action, said he was eager to begin and described a long‑term objective for the district: “We have an opportunity here with the help of your leadership to to build a foundation of success in this district that's going to yield dividends for our students for a generation to come.” He said he looks forward to working under Superintendent Russell and with district administrators and staff.

The board also acknowledged that Todd Dreifal, the district’s assistant superintendent for business, plans to retire this June after seven years of service. Russell thanked Dreifal for his work and wished him well in retirement.
